France to host Iran animation

Iranian animation ‘The Last Fiction’ is slated to be screened at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France.

Directed by Ashkan Rahgozar, the animation is to be screened at the 2018 non-competition section of the event.

A total of 12 other films from various countries are to be displayed alongside ‘The Last Fiction’ at the non-competition section.

The festival has announced the names of 10 animations for the competition section.

The animated film is the story of an evil figure in Iranian mythology, Zahhak. It is an open interpretation of the story from Iran’s history.

The film won recognition and was presented as one of the best ongoing projects at the 2013 edition of Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France. It was also invited to the Marché du Film (lit. Film Market), which is the business counterpart of the Cannes Film Festival and one of the largest film markets in the world.

Established in 1960, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival takes place annually at the beginning of June in the town of Annecy, France.

The event is a contest for animated films, classified in various categories with different techniques, including animated drawings, cut-out papers, and modeling clay.

The 2018 edition of the Annecy Film Festival is slated for June 11-16 in southeastern France.
