Caring uncle or Victor Hugo’s Frollo in ‘The Forgotten’?

Atabak is to act like a caring uncle, confronting Mehrbanou, in the 14th episode of ‘The Forgotten’.  

Mehrbanou would be held responsible for Mehrad’s death by his uncle Atabak.

At first glance, it seems like a natural reaction to such a huge grief, but is Atabak indeed inflected by pain for the loss of his nephew? Or is he after some other goals by playing with Mehrbanou’s emotions?

Atabak is a mysterious vicious character, one who mostly looks like Claude Frollo in Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel The Hunchback of Notre-Dame.
