Iran doc to depict portrait of Iran’s famed comedian

A new doc is set to premiere in Iranian cinemas, offering an in-depth look at the artistic journey of a renowned Iranian comedian.

A new documentary portrait, titled 'The Comedian’s Beginning', is set to premiere in Iranian cinemas, offering an in-depth look at the formative years and artistic journey of renowned Iranian comedian Alireza Khameh.

Directed and produced by Nader Tariqat, the film follows the life of Khameh from his childhood up to the inception of his professional career.

Filming for 'The Comedian’s Beginning' commenced in the winter of 2025 and has recently concluded.

The documentary is currently in its editing phase, with its release anticipated soon under the auspices of Iran's Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC).

Initially, the DEFC commissioned a 30-40 minute film. However, Tariqat felt that this duration was insufficient to adequately cover the breadth of Khameh’s extensive career across cinema, television, and theater. Despite the constraints of time and budget, the final runtime has been set at 52 minutes.

The doc features interviews with key individuals who played significant roles in Khameh’s early career, particularly in his transition to television and theater.

The documentary is slated for delivery to the DEFC by the end of June.
