Sohrab and Saeed are childhood friends from a working-class neighborhood. Sohrab works in a furniture workshop on the brink of bankruptcy. Saeed is jobless and penniless. He takes care of his ailing father and younger brother. He’s under constant pressure from his wife to get a steady job and move out of his father’s house.
Their friendship is put to the ultimate test when shortly after Saeed borrows money from Sohrab to start a business, Sohrab’s sister, Sara, gets engaged, leaving Sohrab desperate to come up with money for sister’s dowry.
What ensues is a riveting tale of faith, honor, loyalty and dignity.
