Iran’s short to vie at US fest

Iranian short film ‘Atari’ has been slated to take part in the KIDS First! Film Festival in the US.

The short flick, written and directed by Farhad Fadakar, will be among the competition titles of the American fest’s 11th edition.

‘Atari’ presents a totally different image of Iran that the western people know. The film is set in the beautiful mosques, mud-brick buildings, Iranian countryside and roadside shops. Everywhere in the film’s setting, there are signs that show locals’ appreciation for what their government has done in the management of the UNESCO-certified Persian qanat irrigation system.

Fadakar, the film’s creator, has appeared in ifilm award-winning movie ‘Standing in the Dust’.

The film has already screened in a number of global events, including the Horsetooth Int’l Film Festival in the US.

Launched in 2000, the KIDS First! Film Festival accepts films by independent and student directors from around the world. The selected films have met the criteria of being non-violent.

This year’s edition of the fest is set to be held on April 29-30.
