Iranian dir. to make fest comeback

Acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Ebrahim Hatamikia is set to return to the 2025 Fajr International Film Festival in Iran after a five-year absence with his latest project, a film adaptation of 'Prophet Moses.

The director is currently completing the final stages of filming.

Hatamikia, known for his war-themed films, including 'Damascus Time', 'The Glass Agency', and 'From Karkheh to Rhine' , last participated in the festival in 2019 with his award-winning film 'Exodus', which earned two Crystal Simorgh awards for Best Visual Effects and Best Makeup.

The new film employs virtual production technology, marking its first use in Iranian cinema.

The film production team has developed some of the virtual production technology domestically under Hatamikia's supervision.

A preview version of the epic film is being prepared for the upcoming Fajr festival.

The project is said to be developed into a television series.

The 43rd edition of the Fajr International Film Festival is scheduled for February 2025.
