In a heart-breaking monologue that Yousef delivers, he gives the last people ultimatum that if they decide to leave Imam Hossein (AS) alone and break their promises, they’ll have to live with the shame of their action forever.
He says, “O’ the last people, don’t you make the same mistake the elders of your tribe made? Those very same ones who are famous as nobles among the common people. Didn’t our prophet say Hossein is the lord of young men who belong in the heavens? Your nobles wrote to us, sent messengers and wrote letters saying come, Kufa is ready. It was decided for Fatemeh’s son.
It was imperative for him to come. So, he got going; because, he had a duty to fulfill. But, what did they do? They either stepped back because of the fear of losing their lives, belongings and status. They were left alone, because of fear of being hated. The last people don’t give up afterlife for the life in this world. For how long are you going to have doubts, hesitate and be indecisive? Today is the probation day. We should hurry to help Hossein (AS), son of Ali (AS). If the son of Ali (AS) is left alone, you’ll be ashamed till the judgment day comes”.
