'168' to bring Minab children’s tragedy to screen

A new Iranian film about the children of Minab, tentatively titled '168', is now in development.

A new Iranian film about the children of Minab, tentatively titled '168', is now in development.

According to a Sunday media report, Mohammad Sasan, head of the Soureh Cinema Production Department, said that the Soureh Cinema Organization is producing a new project centered on the children of Minab who were martyred during the U.S.-Israeli aggression against Iran in February 2026.

Sasan said the film will be made in collaboration with veteran Iranian producer Manouchehr Mohammadi and director Babak Khajeh-Pasha, the same team behind the acclaimed film 'Land of Angels', which focused on the children of Gaza.

Sasan explained that '168' is being developed with a global perspective and cross-border appeal.

He also noted that the team is currently conducting research and working closely with collaborators to shape the screenplay, and that more details will be announced soon.

Mohammadi and Khajeh-Pasha’s previous film, 'Land of Angels', was recognized as the most awarded film at Iran’s 44th Fajr Film Festival, winning five Crystal Simorgh awards and eight honorary diplomas.

On the first day of the U.S.-Israeli war of aggression against Iran on February 28, the Shajareh Tayyebeh elementary school in the southern Iranian city of Minab was targeted by U.S. missile strikes, killing many schoolchildren studying there.
