Young poet keeps losing companions in ‘Shahriar’

The young poet keeps losing companions in the fourteenth episode of iFilm English TV Channel’s ‘Shahriar’.

Here is an English translation of a poem he has written for his last friend who passed away recently:

“My youth complains about my life; I’m ashamed of my youth, for this life.

Far from my mother and kind companions, the cruel times killed me ruthlessly.

I long for the talk of departed friends; o’ death, help me to reach them.

Like Joseph, I’m trapped in well of desert of grief, hearing from afar bell of caravan.”

Directed by Kamal Tabrizi, the series is about a famous lawyer from Tabriz, who had lost several of his children during the war and rebellion in the city at the end of the Qajar period, decided to send his last child to his sister in the village of Khoshkanab to protect him.

The child later got famous as Shahriar, one of the most renowned poets in Iran's contemporary history.

The most notable on the cast list are Ardeshir Rostami, Sirous Gorjestani, Payam Dehkordi, Farhad Qaemian, Elham Hamidi, Ahmad Aqalou, Babak Hamidian, Esmaeel Khalaj, Behrouz Baqaee, Saeed Nikpour, Saba Kamali, Hossein Abedini, Rahim Norouzi, and Mahsa Keramati.
