A portrait of Iranian director Saeed Soltani

Saeed Soltani, born on March 22, 1954, stands as a maestro whose directorial finesse and diverse contributions have etched a lasting legacy in the realm of storytelling.

Soltani's journey into filmmaking began with a solid foundation in cinema, having graduated from Tehran University's Faculty of Fine Arts.

He started as a teacher but later found his way into directing and editing.

Soltani's foray into directing began with a short film, and from there, he delved into the world of television series.  

Renowned both internationally and nationally, Soltani is a name etched in the hearts of cinephiles, thanks to his creations like ‘After the Rain’ and ‘Setayesh’.

The defining moment in his career came with the 2000 hit series ‘After the Rain’ which garnered acclaim and was aired on iFilm TV.

However, his directorial achievements extend far beyond, encompassing series such as 'Edge of Darkness', 'Zero Hour', 'In Search of Peace', 'Yavar', 'On the Right Track', and 'The Way of Love'.

The prolific filmmaker continued to captivate audiences with a string of successful series, including 'Youth' (2001), 'Years of Snow and Violet' (2006), 'Shokraneh' (2007), 'Setayesh' (2009-2010), and 'Setayesh 2' (2013), all broadcasted on iFilm English TV.

Beyond directing, Soltani has excelled as a writer and actor in both cinema and television. Noteworthy works in his writing portfolio include 'A House in the Dark', 'Zahra's Blue Eyes', and 'Count Down'. In the acting realm, he delivered memorable performances in films like 'In Love' and 'You Didn't Know' as well as the series 'Young Lawyers'.
