A portrait of Iranian film editor Hassan Ayoubi

Read on to know more about Iran's master of film editing Hassan Ayoubi.

Hassan Ayoubi, one of Iran’s most talented film editors, has played a crucial role in shaping the country’s cinema with his sharp editing skills.

Over a prolific career, Ayoubi has left his mark on dozens of influential films, from beloved family animations like ‘The Elephant King’ to action-packed comedies like ‘Guidance Patrol 2’ and ‘Oxidan’.

Ayoubi’s career began in 1998 with his work on ‘Secret Club’, directed by Jamal Shourjeh.

This early project set the foundation for his future success, allowing him to collaborate with established Iranian actors such as Jamshid Hashempour, Jahanbakhsh Soltani, Farhad Aslani, and Mahmoud Pakniyyat.

The skills he honed in ‘Secret Club’ would later be instrumental as he moved on to more high-profile projects.

One of Ayoubi’s standout years came in 2016, when he edited multiple significant films that bolstered his reputation in the industry.

That year, he took on ‘Guidance Patrol 2’, directed by Saeed Soheili, and ‘The Elephant King’, a project that would become one of his most memorable achievements.

His work on ‘The Elephant King’ allowed him to shine in Iran’s animation sector, further showing his skill in handling diverse genres and formats.

Ayoubi’s talent has earned him recognition on numerous occasions.

He was nominated for the Crystal Simorgh for best editing at the 29th Fajr International Film Festival in 2010 for ‘33 Days’, a film by Jamal Shourjeh.

He was also nominated in the Trailer category for ‘The Invader’ at the same festival, and earlier, in 2001, he was recognized at the Celebration House of Cinema for his trailer work on ‘End Game’.

More recently, he received acclaim for his editing on the animated feature ‘Extinction’, earning a nomination at the 41st Fajr International Film Festival. Additionally, he won the best editing award at the Sports Film Festival for his work on ‘Laleh’.

Beyond film editing, Ayoubi has expanded his expertise into creating opening titles and has worked as an assistant editor on several projects.

His title design for ‘Sam and Narges’ is particularly notable, as is his assistant editing on the acclaimed film ‘Red’.

With more than 59 projects to his name—spanning feature films, animation, and the occasional television series—Ayoubi’s dedication to Iranian cinema is undeniable.

iFilm English TV wishes Hassan Ayoubi continued success and creative fulfillment as he contributes to the art of film editing, inspiring both audiences and the next generation of filmmakers.
