Khodabakhsh had a significant career breakthrough in 2016 with ‘Kupal’, directed by Kazem Mollaee.
His skillful editing played a crucial role in the film’s impact, allowing him to establish himself among cinema professionals.
Two years later, he showed his talents in ‘The Warden’, directed by Nima Javidi. This time, he worked alongside celebrated actors like Navid Mohammadzadeh, Parinaz Izadyar, and Mani Haqiqi, further solidifying his place in the industry.
Over the years, Khodabakhsh has been involved in numerous acclaimed films, including ‘Bloody Crocodile’ (2023), ‘After Leaving’ (2022), ‘No. 10’ (2022), ‘Leather Jacket’ (2022), ‘Between the Rocks’ (2021), ‘The Deceased’ (2021), ‘Two Dogs’ (2021), ‘White Collars’ (2020), ‘Zalava’ (2020), ‘The Night Guardian’ (2020), ‘The Four Books’ (2020), ‘Punch Drunk’ (2020), ‘Titi’ (2020), ‘Without Everything’ (2020), ‘Pinto’ (2020), ‘The Imagination’ (2020), and ‘Golden Night’ (2020).
Khodabakhsh’s talent has been recognized with numerous awards. He won the Crystal Simorgh for best editing at the 39th Fajr International Film Festival in 2021 for ‘Without Everything’.
In 2023, he received the best editing award for ‘Leniency’ at the ISFA Academy Awards. His work on ‘Dissection’ earned him the best editing award at the 10th Independent Short Film Festival of Iran in 2019, and he was also honored with the merit award for best editing for ‘Zona’ at the 8th Independent Short Film Festival in 2017.
In addition to his wins, he has been nominated multiple times for his outstanding editing work.
He was nominated for the Crystal Simorgh for best editing at the 41st Fajr International Film Festival in 2023 for ‘Leather Jacket’ and at the 39th Fajr Film Festival in 2021 for ‘Punch Drunk’.
His work on ‘Neigh’ was recognized at the 39th Tehran International Short Film Festival in 2023, while his editing for ‘Without Everything’ earned him a nomination at the 14th Iran Film Critics and Writers Association Awards in 2023.
In 2022, he was nominated for best editing for ‘Leniency’ at the 38th Tehran International Short Film Festival.
His work on ‘Gabriel’ was also nominated at the 37th Tehran International Short Film Festival in 2021. Additionally, he received nominations for ‘The Warden’ at the 20th Hafez Awards in both 2020 and 2021.
Apart from cinema, Khodabakhsh has also made an impact on television, editing series such as ‘Suran’ (2023) and ‘Mastouran’ (2022).
