Portrait of film editor Kaveh Imani

Born on December 4, 1970, in Tehran, Kaveh Imani, also known as Kaveh Hamidi Imani, is one of Iran’s most accomplished film editors.

Married with a daughter, Imani embarked on his career in 1996, initially working as an assistant editor for four years before officially stepping into the film and television editing world in 2000.

Imani is an alumnus of Bagh-e Ferdows Islamic Film School, where he specialized in editing, as well as Tehran’s Islamic Azad University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a focus on Exceptional Children.

He has also shared his expertise as an instructor, teaching film editing courses at Tehran University’s Faculty of Art and Soore University for several semesters.

Since 1996, Imani has been an active member of Iran’s Cinema Editors Association and has held several key roles, including treasurer and board member.

His contributions extend to judging in Iran’s House of Cinema awards, where he has evaluated editing, photography, and poster design categories.

Throughout his prolific career, Imani has edited over 66 feature films, 5 television series, and numerous short films and documentaries. His works include standout titles such as ‘Single Point’ (2020), ‘Pastarioni’ (2018), ‘Guidance Patrol’ (2011), and ‘Four Fingers’ (2006). He also worked on popular television series like ‘Detective Alavi 2’ (2008), ‘Seven Stones’ (2014), and ‘At the Crossroad’ (2018).

Imani’s editing achievements have earned him several awards. In 2016, he won best editor for ‘Youth’ at the Razavi Video Festival and was previously nominated in 2008 for ‘The Third Day’ by Donya-ye Tasvir magazine.

His talent has also garnered international recognition; he was nominated for best editor at the 2017 Bridges International Film Festival in Greece for ‘Wander around Me’.

With a distinguished career spanning nearly three decades, Kaveh Imani’s expertise has left a profound impact on Iranian cinema. Known for his artistic precision, he continues to be a prominent figure in Iranian film, teaching future generations and refining the art of cinematic storytelling through editing.
